Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Jobtins collects, why we use it, how we protect it, and the rights you have. We collect very little, so it is short. It applies to jobtins.com and to the Jobtins app if you add it to your home screen.

Who we are

Jobtins ("we", "us") is an online marketplace that helps people in Nigeria find products and services from local businesses. We decide how the personal information described here is used, which makes us the "controller" under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA). Our contact details are on the Contact page.

The short version

Shoppers do not need an account, and we do not run advertising.
We do not use analytics or tracking tools, and we never sell your information.
We do not take orders or payments. When you order, you do it on the business's own catalogue on Reseeti.
If you leave a review, we keep what you wrote, plus a scrambled code that helps us stop spam.

What we collect and why

When you browse

Like every website, our web server records standard technical information: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested and your browser or device type. We use it to keep Jobtins secure, fix problems and block abuse, which is our legitimate interest in running a safe service. These records are kept for a limited time. We do not use them to build profiles or to show you advertising.

When you leave a review

What you give us: a star rating, and optionally a name and a comment. If you give no name, the review shows as "Anonymous customer". Once approved, your rating, name and comment are public.
What we create: a scrambled code made from your IP address and browser type, using a secret key. It cannot be turned back into your IP address. We store it with your review, never show it publicly, and use it only to limit spam and to stop one person flooding a business with reviews.
Why: you choose to submit a review, and we have a legitimate interest in keeping reviews honest.
Please do not put phone numbers, addresses or other personal details in a review. Reviews containing contact details or links are held back for checking.
How long: until the review is removed. You can ask us to remove yours at any time.

Information about businesses

Business names, logos, addresses, phone and WhatsApp numbers, products, prices and descriptions come from each business's own public catalogue on Reseeti. We only show a business after its owner has chosen to list it on Jobtins. If you are such an owner, you can switch listing off at any time in your Reseeti account, or ask us to remove your listing.

Administrators

People who manage Jobtins sign in with an email address and password. We keep the details needed to run their accounts, for as long as they have access.

When you contact us

If you write to us, we receive your message and contact details. We use them to reply and keep them for as long as needed to deal with your request.

Cookies and similar technologies

Jobtins does not set cookies for visitors, and we do not use cookies or tools for advertising or analytics.
Your browser keeps two small settings so that the "install the app" prompt is not annoying: whether you have dismissed or used it, and a count of pages viewed during your visit (this one is cleared when you close the tab).
If you add Jobtins to your home screen, your device saves a single "You are offline" page. It saves nothing else: no prices, no accounts, no browsing history.
Links to other sites, such as Reseeti, WhatsApp and social media, are covered by those sites' own cookies and policies.

When you order, chat or follow other links

When you tap Order, you leave Jobtins and go to the business's catalogue on Reseeti. What you enter there, such as your name, phone number, delivery address, order details and any payment details, is collected by that business and by Reseeti, not by Jobtins. We never see it. Please read their privacy information before you order.

When you tap Chat on WhatsApp, your message goes to the business through WhatsApp, and WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy apply.

Who we share information with

We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only with:

Service providers who help us run Jobtins, such as our hosting provider (currently DigitalOcean) and our database, file storage and sign-in provider (currently Supabase). They only get what they need, and only to provide their service to us.
Authorities, where the law, a court or a regulator requires it, or where it is needed to protect people's rights or safety.
A new owner, if Jobtins is ever sold or merged. We would make sure your information stays protected and tell you about any changes.

Where your information is kept

Our providers' data centres may be outside Nigeria, for example in Europe. When information is transferred abroad, we rely on providers that apply appropriate safeguards, as the NDPA requires.

How long we keep it

Web server records: a limited time, then deleted.
Reviews and their scrambled codes: until the review is removed.
Business listings: for as long as the business is listed.
Administrator accounts: for as long as the person has access.
Messages to us: for as long as needed to deal with them.

How we protect it

Jobtins uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). The administration area needs a sign-in, and we limit who has access. The public can read only the approved reviews' rating, name and comment, never the scrambled codes or any IP address. No system is completely secure, but if a breach seriously affects you, we will tell you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as the law requires.

Your rights

Under the NDPA, you have the right to:

know how your information is used (this policy);
ask to see the information we hold about you;
ask us to correct it;
ask us to delete it;
object to, or ask us to limit, how we use it;
ask for a copy in a form you can reuse;
withdraw your consent, where we rely on it; and
not be subject to decisions made only by automated means that significantly affect you. We make no such decisions.

To use any of these rights, write to us through the Contact page, telling us what you want and, if it is about a review, which business or product it was on and the name you used. We may need to check that it is you. We aim to reply within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

Children

Jobtins is meant for adults and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make an important change, we will say so on the site.
